What is oud?
Oud, also known as oud wood, is an aromatic resin formed in agarwood. When the tree becomes infected, it starts to produce a dark, fragrant oil – oud oil. This process takes years, sometimes decades. The resulting oil is extremely rare and forms the heart of many oriental fragrances.
Due to its rarity and rich scent, oud is exclusively used in luxury perfumes, often as an Extrait de Parfum – meaning the highest concentration of fragrance components.
Why is oud among the most precious scents in the world?
Oud is not a light, fresh note. It is raw, dark, elegant. You can smell wood, leather, smoke, sometimes even the sweetness of honey or dried fruit. It changes on the skin, reacts with the wearer, and thereby creates uniqueness. Every oud perfume is different.
